Suwana Kirkland (2019 - 2021)
Today Suwana Kirkland leads Dakota County Community Corrections as the department head where she oversees all of probation for juvenile and adult clients, detention, and adult/youth treatment program mining. Suwana has over 15 years of experience as a public safety leader and community advocate. Suwana served as the MN NBPA past president during 2019 - 2021, Vice President 2014-2018, and is currently the Vice Chair for the National chapter. Suwana is a wife, a mother, and has spent her life listening to people share what’s important to them. Suwana is committed public safety and continues to work towards changing law enforcement to reflect the communities we serve.
